As you complete each step, you will become better prepared to have success in online school. Please complete these steps by your start date with UTVA to make sure that you and your student have a successful school year.
Step 1. Set up your Learning Coach and Student accounts.K12 recently emailed you a Registration ID number to set up your LC account. If you need that information, please email your Strong Start Advisor.

Step 2. Complete Learning Coach University (LCU)- RequiredThank you for your hard work to start strong at UTVA. . Here are three options to complete Required Learning Coach training:
Traditional LCU -45 minutes
Accelerated LCU- 20 mins or less
LCU Survey- 5 mins or less
LCU completion Survey- submit your survey to receive your Learning Coach Expert certificate.

Step 3. Download Blackboard LauncherTo attend required Student Online Orientation and Class Connects, you need to download the Blackboard Launcher for Blackboard Collaborate (BBC). Directions are HERE

Step 4. Student attends Hands On Student Online Orientation class connect- RequiredThe required Hands On Student Online Orientation is offered Monday and Tuesday at 8:15 am and Monday and Tuesday at 12:00 noon. Your student will find the link to this orientation in the Class Connects/Events list.
If your student cannot attend one of the live orientations, they can watch this recording to receive credit for attending. Be sure they complete the attendance survey at the end of the recording. RECORDING
Step 5. Download Office 365 to set up student's school email.Directions HERE
Please note: Students are able to access school Email from their Online School without downloading Office 365; however, if they would like to use these additional tools they will need to download Office 365.
Step 6. Kindergarten-8th Grade students complete i-Ready diagnostic assessments.You will receive an email with i-Ready log information once your student has been added into i-Ready.
This year we will be using a program called i-Ready® Diagnostic & Instruction, an innovative adaptive assessment and engaging personalized instruction program for reading and math. i-Ready will help us assess the needs of your child while monitoring their progress throughout the rest of the school year. It will also provide your child with an individualized Online Instruction based on their individual skill level. Please watch this short, informative video on why we are using i-Ready this year.
